New Film Claims "Civil War" Between Black Men & Women

Unless you're living under a rock, it's hard not to notice the issues in Black communities.  I got a chance to get an interview with Adam Butler, the director of the upcoming film "I'm Single Because", which explores the complicated issues that plague Black communities and relationships.  "I'm Single Because" was written and directed in response to the popular twitter hashtag #ImSingleBecause and the Washington Post writer Joy Jones's 2006 article titled "Marriage Is For White People".

Yolie: Hi Adam, please tell us what your film "Im Single Because" is about?
Adam: "I'm Single" is about the "civil war" or disconnect between Black men and women.


Yolie: What made you want to tackle this complicated issue?
Adam: As it stands today the rate of marriage is at an all time low in the African-American community; and is the lowest among all other racial groups in the United States. I wanted to find out why and finally start an honest conversation about this issue.
