The Author
Thanks for stopping by ;) I'm Yolie, author of "Pass The Memo" and Production Director for Get Money Magazine - where I also write the advice column called Diva Dollar$.
I mostly write about relationships, women's issues, business and beauty topics. I'm currently working on book #2 and other creative projects.
The Book
So why write about relationships? I mean, as a writer I could have chosen to write about anything. I could've written a sizzling romance novel, a fictional hood story...anything. But nope, I decided to write about one of the most complicated topics ever...LOVE. I'm getting itchy just thinking about it. Growing up I never thought love was "complicated". I figured if two people loved each other then they would do whatever it took to make it work and all would be right. Right? That sounds great...um...in a perfect world. But as everyone knows, we're not in a perfect world and if you're old enough to have had a relationship or two, you know how complicated relationships can be nowadays. And to top it off, we have a recession to deal with. Sweeeeet.
After getting massive headaches from the relationship stories I was hearing about (and witnessing), I decided to do a lil' homework. What better topic to write about than one that so many women have questions about. But what makes me the love expert? I'm not. Nor do I claim to be. For the book, I took the advice of MEN and translated it in a way that women can easily understand and relate to. After all, understanding men is like learning a new language. I spent several years surveying and interviewing different types of "urban men" - from blue collar workers to ballers to hustlers to businessmen (ages 18-43) to get their HONEST thoughts & advice on love, sex, relationships, and women. I told them to "tell me like it is" in exchange for keeping their names and identities concealed :) And since I'm a chick, I was able to ask these guys detailed questions I know most women want the answers to. I left no stone unturned. Even though I had to pull teeth, I got the straight-to-the-point advice I was hoping for.
Please note that Pass The Memo is NOT a man-bashing book. It's simply a relationship guide that dishes men's secrets, both the good and bad - including shocking details that all women NEED to know. This info is coming straight from the source........MEN. Lucky for you, I put in all the work to put this juicy information together ;) Happy reading and all the best!
